FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Why telehealth?
Online therapy has become increasingly popular and several studies have shown that it is just as effective as in-person counseling. Not only does this method provide maximum flexibility in terms of time, space, and comfort - but it allows you to get services when and where you need to: whether at home, on your lunchbreak, outside, etc. Another added bonus is that you do not need to cancel your session if you are feeling under the weather. As long as you have a private space and good internet connection, we can meet. Don't let transportation, lack of child care, or distance be a barrier from you getting the help you deserve!
How will you ensure my privacy?
I use HIPAA compliant secure video conferencing to make counseling sessions convenient and confidential. You can use this platform from a smart phone, your computer, a laptop, or a tablet! Additionally, no information will be shared with outside parties without your signed consent. Please note, the only exception to this is per mandatory reporting laws - meaning if I feel you are in IMMEDIATE danger to yourself or someone else, or someone is trying to harm you - I am required to report it. This is further detailed in your intake paperwork and I am happy to answer any questions.
Do you take my insurance?
At this time, we do not take insurance, and are strictly self-pay/considered an out-of-network provider. However, that will change in the future so please continue to check the website for updates. Additionally, you can request a monthly statement from me, which you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Please contact your insurance company about coverage and reimbursement rates. Lastly - I do offer a sliding scale for those that qualify.
What is a sliding scale fee?
Sliding scale therapy pricing is a type of fee structure where people with fewer resources are responsible for paying a lower fee. The amount that a client is responsible for paying is based on income. This can be discussed in further detail between you and your therapist.
Can you prescribe or refill medications?
Not yet. At this time, I am not a psychiatrist, clinical psychologist, nor a doctor. Though I am a huge advocate for medication management in conjunction with psychotherapy, I am unable to write scripts. That being said - I am more than happy to help you find a licensed physician in your area that fits your needs, as well as work in conjunction with the one you choose!
What is the meaning behind the name "Wellness with Wander"?
Wander is actually my maiden name! Wander is also a word in the dictionary meaning "to move without a fixed course". To me, this fit perfectly into this line of work and what I want to do for others. I genuinely believe it is never too late to change routes, plans, and habits in one's life. I believe that we are in control of our own path and what direction we go. As for Wellness - this is all-encompassing. My services extend beyond just mental health. I am fully aware that other things play into mental well-being, such as physical health, spirituality, emotions, social interactions - etc. Hence: WELLNESS WITH WANDER!
Where are your patient intake forms/policies/release of information documents?
A packet will be sent to you via e-mail when you book your session. These will need to be completed PRIOR to engaging in services with me. If you are struggling with filling them out or have any questions - please do not hesitate to ask for assistance!
